And Lewandowski faces three options: continue for a year in a supporting role, seek a new adventure, or retire, focusing on Poland's World Cup qualifiers in March.
According to El Chiringuito, Lewandowski is intent on choosing the first option. The former Bayern Munich striker is willing to significantly reduce his salary—currently €26m-a-year, among the highest in the squad—to stay.
"He wants to talk to the club, say he wants to stay, accepting a much lower salary," explained journalist José Alvarez.
