Guti played with Xabi at Real Madrid and can see the same qualities as a player that he is now showing as a coach.
He told DAZN: "He was the typical player who you know is going to be in charge later, also because of his position.
"On the pitch he was a bit of a boss, the one who was always in contact with both the defense and the attackers, in the end you know that's what he's going to dedicate himself to."
Asked if he could've played for a Xabi team, Guti was adamant: "Yes, I would love to play the role Arda Guler is playing. I think it's the role I played at Madrid when I played, and I'd like to play with all of them.
"Rodrygo, (Jde) Bellingham, Vinicius, (Kylian) Mbappé—they're players you'd learn a lot from. When you have players of such a high level, your level eventually rises, too."
Guti added, "I'm always excited to coach, but I like big challenges. A big challenge hasn't come up yet for me to coach, but I'm open to it. I like being a commentator, but I see myself on the bench, and I hope I get the opportunity, like Xabi Alonso had, to take on a big name."
