The pair worked together last season at Real Madrid before Ancelotti left to take charge of Brazil.
He told France Football: "In a year, Mbappé never asked me for anything, not even to take penalties, to play, not to play, to take free kicks... He always behaved very well, with great humility. He had a very high-level season, scoring 44 goals, but I think this second season will be even better because he's already adapted and his teammates know him well."
Asked about Mbappe's best position, Ancelotti also stated: "For me, Mbappé is a centre forward. He's quick, technical, skilled, and capable of combining in tight spaces. That's why he needs to be close to the opponent's goal. He has the same qualities on the wing, but he'd score less. Defensively? It's not that he doesn't like defending, it's just that a player with his characteristics is expected to score."
On Mbappe's teammate Vinicius Jr, Ancelotti added: "Is he easy to coach? Of course he is. I have a fantastic relationship with Vinicius, he does what I ask, and I've never had any problems with him. When you coach a national team, these problems don't happen that often.
"If a player isn't happy with his role in the team, I call someone else. Now I no longer have the obligation I had at a club to coach a player for the entire season."
