Mbappe has been named in the France squad for the two friendlies they will play in the United States: on March 26 against Brazil at Gillette Stadium in Boston and on March 29 against Colombia at Northwest Stadium in Landover.
While there's been claims Mbappe will only join the tour to fulfil commercial commitments, Deschamps insists the striker will be playing, despite his knee concerns.
Deschamps said, "From the moment a protocol was established and respected, everything unfolded as planned. He was available for the match against Manchester City, where he played 25 minutes…
"He has an important match on Sunday against Atlético, and he is expected to play in that game, although I don't want to put myself in Álvaro Arbeloa's shoes, so in terms of injury, the protocol has been respected.
"I've been in regular contact with Kylian. There was no obligation to call him up, even though I heard he was coming here for marketing reasons. Kylian is Kylian, he has an impact, but he wanted to be here with us as a player. I'll speak with him again after the derby (against Atletico Madrid)."
