Liverpool boss Arne Slot is staring at an injury list that could leave as many as eight players unavailable for one of the season’s defining fixtures against Manchester City this weekend.
In what is one of the club’s last chances at silverware, Slot will be eager to bypass City and reach the Semi Final after missing out on the Premier League and Champions League.
However, Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee) are both out in defence as Jeremie Frimpong (other) also joins them in Liverpool’s medical room after being pulled off in the Netherlands’ latest friendly against Ecuador.
Federico Chiesa (other), Wataru Endo (ankle) are also missing, with the Italian pulling out the Italian camp over the past week as his side missed out on the World Cup.
Mohamed Salah (other) missed the 2-1 loss at Brighton last time out with a minor fitness issue and as a result was left out of Egypt’s squad for this month’s friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain.
However, he could return to the side for the City clash after completing recovery work at the AXA Training Centre over the break.
Finally, goalkeeper Alisson Becker (other) is expected to be out for this weekend as he is yet to make his return from an injury suffered a fortnight ago.
Supporters will have to wait for Arne Slot's pre-game press conference for the latest update on the Brazilian's state as well as several members of the squad who have been working hard behind the scenes.
