Forest search for their first win

His side were denied a victory on their return to Europe last week after conceding a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw away at Real Betis, which was tough to take for the former Spurs boss who desperately wants to end his winless streak.

Forest are back in Europe for the first time in three decades this season and speaking ahead of the game, Postecoglou hyped up the affair which he says will be special and unique.

“My experience from the other clubs I’ve been at is that the European nights are a little bit different and more special. The fans get themselves up for it because it is something unique.

“The fact it’s the first one in 30 years adds to that. I’m really looking forward to it; I think it will be a cracking atmosphere.

“Irrespective of what’s happening in the league, you need to treat European competition as a different tournament. It challenges you in different ways - you meet opponents and styles of play you are not familiar with.”

Returning to Europe

The return to Europe has been no easy feat and Postecoglou thanked former managers for their hard work to get the side there in what was a admirable act of respect.

“I’m really privileged,” the 60-year-old said of leading Forest on their continental adventure. “That’s on the back of the work of guys like Coops (Steve Cooper) and Nuno (Espirito Santo) that have got us to this point. I’m the beneficiary of that, and I don’t take that lightly.

“It is a privilege, but it’s one I’m looking forward to - the responsibility of leading the club back in Europe for the first time in 30 years and hopefully making it a campaign to remember. More importantly, it’s something this football club wants to do on a regular basis, every season.
