Villa are the favourites for the Europa League

Konsa opened up to the media about his side’s chances of lifting the trophy and being considered favourites.

“It’s a realistic aim. It’s a competition we want to win. For us, we will take it game by game. We know the boss’ record in the Europa League. We are contenders and there is pressure, but we have to deal with that every week.”

Have Villa been lazy?

Questions then turned to Villa’s poor defence and how Emery suggested his side had been lazy in recent weeks.

“It’s a fair comment. Everyone saw the picture and the goal. We try to pride ourselves on playing a high line. We didn’t quite get it right so far this season.

“There are blips and we are going through that right now. The boss isn’t a big speaker. Sometimes he keeps himself to himself. When your manager doesn’t speak well of you, it puts a bit of fuel into you to prove everyone wrong. That starts tomorrow.”

Villa will study Bologna

Konsa next spoke on Bologna and revealed how the squad will be studying the Italian side ahead of the clash starting tomorrow.

“We played Bologna last year and they are strong. For us it’s important to focus on ourselves. I’m sure they have changed a few players since last season. We will watch their clips tomorrow morning and see what they can do.”

There is no crisis

Finally, the experienced defender stated that the Villa side will bounce back soon enough and that there is no need for a crisis meeting.

“We have been in these positions before and it’s clear we aren’t scoring enough goals. I believe in the players we have and I’m sure it will click.

“I don’t think we are at that stage to have what people call crisis meetings. John McGinn takes the lead in that. After the game he said a few words to keep us going and encouraged us.”
