Last month, Iqbal was demoted to the reserves at Utrecht after the former United midfielder was accused of a lack of dedication in training by the club coaches.
Iqbal set to leave in January
Iqbal has clocked up five appearances in the Eredivisie and two in the Europa League this season but over the past month has not featured under Jans who has now revealed that he will depart next month.
"We have to look in January," Jans stated, confirming the club's transfer stance. "We think it is best for all parties if another solution is found. He can look for another club."
"Lately I thought that his head wasn't in it, but I never had disciplinary problems with him," the coach explained. "Zidane does not feel happy with his current role. Then you have to look for another solution."
Iqbal wanted to thrive at Man Utd
Iqbal joined Utrecht from the Red Devils in the summer of 2023 with the Dutch side paying a fee of £1M for his services. In an interview with The National some years ago, Iqbal explained that he was not handed a chance to shine under former manager Erik ten Hag.
"I just wanted 10 minutes off a bench to show myself, and it really frustrated me that the gaffer didn't seem to rate me enough to give me a chance to show if I could sink or swim.
"I spoke to my dad and agent and said: 'I can't do this for another year'. From the outside, it looked amazing to all my friends because I was training and travelling with United's first team.
"For me, it was mentally tough because I was just training and not allowed to play with the under-23s. I thought to myself, 'I'm just like a number'."
