Goals from Antoine Semenyo and Rayan Cherki sealed a 2-0 first-leg victory for City 3 weeks ago and now Newcastle must head to the Etihad to claim a victory of at least 2 goals on Wednesday night.
Going into the second leg, both sides are struggling with a huge number of injuries between them and the Magpies will have to field a squad worthy of not only competing but beating City boss Pep Guardiola.
In defence, Newcastle will miss Fabian Schar (ankle / foot), Emil Krafth (knee), Tino Livramento (thigh), and Sven Botman (hamstring).
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will also be without Lewis Miley (knee) and captain Bruno Guimaraes who is currently sidelined by an ankle injury he picked up against PSV Eindhoven last week.
Finally, in attack, Howe confirmed that Joelinton (Groin/Hip/Pelvic Injury) would be out for “weeks rather than months” and won’t feature against City this week as he recovers behind the scenes.
Having lost 4-1 to Liverpool at Anfield in their last clash, Newcastle will aim to bounce back against City and make their way into the final, where they would face Premier League and Champions League leaders Arsenal.
