Barcelona tweaked his knee during their win over Mallorca at Camp Nou, and the club confirmed the injury immediately after the game.
“Rashford has pain in his left knee after taking a blow in the game against Mallorca on Saturday at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Now, as per manager Hansi Flick, Rashford is unavailable for Barcelona’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid in what is a huge blow for the side.
“We have problems in the team,” Flick said in his pre-match press conference.
“Marcus won’t be able to play, he took a knock, he’s in pain and we have to look after him. I believe in my team and we rise to the occasion in difficult situations.”
Raphinha has not played since January’s 3-1 win against Elche and Flick also confirmed that the Brazilian will also miss the clash as the La Liga giants grow weak in attack.
“Step by step, we have to take care of him,” Flick said. “He always gives his all, with high intensity, and when he feels any discomfort, we have to take care of him and take a step back.
“I’m not happy because we need him, just like the rest of the injured players. He’s feeling something in his muscle and that’s normal. You have to take care of your body, that’s the most important thing. We have to support him and keep an eye on him.”
The Barca boss does still have Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres available for the game but fans will worry about when Rashford and Raphinha will return with the Champions League approaching.
