Thiago Silva's 16-year-old son, Iago has been called up to England despite his father playing for Brazil.

Iago is already a member of Chelsea’s academy having joined his dad’s former side and has been part of the Blues’ under-15 side, winning multiple tournaments at youth level after an impressive rise through the club in West London.

His father famously played for Brazil and has 113 caps to his name, scoring seven goals for his country, with his international highlight being him winning the Copa America back in 2019.

His son Iago is eligible for the Selecao but has instead been called up by the Three Lions to represent England’s U15 national team. Like his father, Iago plays as a central defender, and he could slot into the first team over the next decade in what would be a surreal moment.

Last month, in Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League win over Benfica, his older brother Isago was spotted as a ball boy for the game, which stunned many fans who spotted him on the sidelines, helping the team out.

Sharing a snap of himself at St. George's Park, he wrote on Instagram: "Proud moment to be invited to my first England camp. The hard work continues."

Silva’s family are well-connected to Chelsea and therefore England, which will have pushed his son to joining the England camp where he can continue his development close to home amongst some of the world’s best talent.
