City host Leeds United today on the back of defeat in the Premier League at Newcastle and at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Former City striker Dickov told Tribalfootball: "Yeah, it's not been great. You know, the Newcastle game could have gone either way, actually. I thought Manchester City actually played okay and had the chances and maybe a couple of decisions going their way.
"But, you know, I don't care what form Newcastle are in leading into these games, but they always seem to give Manchester City a really tough game, especially at St James' Park. So the defeat was disappointing, but I don't think the performance was one to be too upset about it.
"Pep (Guardiola) always goes on about their performances being one of the most important things, not just the result. But it was a bit of a blow, you know, because they could have put a little bit more pressure on Arsenal going into the North London derby. Not that it looks like it would have mattered now, the way they played."
Bayer deserve credit
Dickov continued: "And then the Leverkusen game was a strange one. I was there the other night there and okay obviously a lot of changes that people point the finger at, but at the same time there's a lot of changes, a lot of quality players that still come in you know and so you can't get away from that fact that the performance wasn't great possibly up until the substitutions in the second half.
"But by that time I've got to say I was really impressed by Leverkusen. I don't think they're getting the credit that they they deserve. I thought they set up defensively and were really, really difficult to break down.
"I think sometimes you've got to hold your hands up and give the opposition team credit because I don't think anybody expected Leverkusen to come to the Etihad and get a result, never mind going and winning the game 2-0."
