Paul Pogba's brother Mathias Pogba has spoken on the former Manchester United star's struggles.

Pogba has not played since early-December due to a calf problem, and was left out of Monaco’s Champions League squad last month as the French side deal with his injuries behind the scenes.

Pogba has full support from his family

The World Cup winner made his return to playing back in November, just over two years after his previous appearance. However, his move has been a failure so far as he attempts to revive his career.

Speaking on RMC Sport, Mathias revealed how the whole family are behind Pogba and admitted that he expected his return to make a bigger impact on his career.

"It's frustrating, not just for him, but for everyone in the family. I told him that he couldn't be back at 100 per cent straight away," Mathias said.

"We expected better from his return. But this is the reality. The body is not used to this sort of rhythm at high intensity."

"We are patient and resilient. He will have that patience to get back to his best level. He is working. It's more mentally that it becomes difficult. You have high expectations.”

Could he bounce back?

Monaco director Thiago Scuro gave an update on Pogba, saying: "The entire medical department is focused on finding solutions,” he said. When asked when Pogba will be able to train again, he added: “There's no clear answer to that question.

Mathias continued, saying that all the family can do it hope that Pogba recovers and bounces back as he comes to the end of his career.

“You are enthusiastic and then you get stabbed in the back again. It's about bouncing back again and again. It's a combination of things. There's the desire to get back on the pitch, but the body is telling you not to go too fast. There are percentages everywhere: physical, cardio, mental… We will have to be patient. We've always taken it one day at a time."

"We send him messages of encouragement. The rest is up to him to manage. He's known this world for years. We're just doing our part, the rest is up to him."
