Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has spoken ahead of this week's Champions League clash with Ajax.

Chelsea are seeking their fourth win on the spin in all tournaments in what is their 200th game in the tournament proper. They should have enough firepower to pick apart Ajax who are yet to get off the mark in the competition.

Fernandez is returning to full fitness

Maresca first spoke on the fitness of Enzo Fernandez who is working hard behind the scenes to get back to full fitness.

"Enzo took part in the session yesterday, we have one more session and we will see what we do tomorrow. It's not something to be worried about but we just have to protect Enzo."

Pedro's suspension

The Italian head coach also opened up on his attacking options now that Joao Pedro is suspended and said he has faith in Marc Guiu.

"We have him (Guiu) we have also Tyrique (George). He played games as a nine in the past. He did well. He played I think against Benfica as a nine so we have different options. We will see. We have one more session this afternoon and then we decide."

On Guiu: "We trust Marc. We trust him last year, he was playing in the Conference League. We gave him some Premier League games. We show in the past that we trust Marc. Now he is again with us and he's going to play games, for sure."

Delap is close to returning

Maresca was also asked on the fitness of striker Liam Delap who is set to return later this year after suffering a long term hamstring injury.

"Liam is very close. He is not working with us yet. He is still out. Hopefully he can start in the next days to start taking sessions with us."

Red cards have to stop

Finally, Red cards have been a major issue for Maresca's side, and he admitted that is something that they are working on each week as discipline continues to run low.

"For sure, it's something we can do better. I think with some of the red cards, we could avoid that. For instance, I think the Malo (Gusto) one is completely avoidable because the game is almost finished. As I said after the Nottingham game, the other side, they do not want to concede, and they want to continue to be aggressive.

"For sure, when you concede five or six red cards, I don't know exactly how many, for sure that is something you have to improve.

"Personally, I'm not that kind of manager to punish players. In my view, I don't think it is the right way to do things. I prefer to help them understand and then, from there, do the right things.
