Liverpool defender Jeremie Frimpong has urged fans to "chill" after a video of him celebrating Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain went viral on social media.

The Netherlands international was seen reacting happily as the Gunners suffered heartbreak in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time in Budapest.

His reaction sparked criticism online, with some supporters interpreting it as a mockery of the Gunner’s misfortune.

However, the former Bayer Leverkusen star quickly moved to clarify the situation, insisting there was no ill feeling towards the North London club.

"(two laughing emojis) chill me and my friend made a bet and I won and that’s why I was happy (shrugging emoji)"

Arsenal had taken an early lead through Kai Havertz before Ousmane Dembele levelled for PSG. With the scores remaining tied after 120 minutes, the match was decided on penalties.
