Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl impressed against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night and has earned a lot praise.

Karl became Bayern Munich's youngest Champions League goalscorer in style, breaking a record set by Jamal Musiala as he scored within 5 minutes in front of 75,000 spectators at the Allianz Arena, much to the delight of manager Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian boss spoke after the game about the quality Karl brings, which he admits is not normal for a player who is just 17 years old.

"This isn't normal. I'm not a fan of the hype he'll get now. I'm a fan of training and calm. We'll see what he shows and just move on,"

Bayern striker Harry Kane posted after the victory, highlighting Karl’s ability in what was a great gesture from the Englishman.

“Brilliant Champions League night at the Allianz. Congrats Lennart Karl on a night to remember! Gotta keep this momentum going.”

Musiala was 17 years, 11 months, and 28 days old when he scored in Bayern’s 4-1 win over Lazio in the 2020/21 season, and Karl has smashed that record in what is a phenomenal feat.

Karl himself admits that he does not feel the pressure of such occasions, a key factor that likely helps him relax his nerves and focus on the task at hand.

"It's a lot of fun with the boys, everything is working out and I can learn a lot here," he said. "I have to build on that now and not stop just because I've scored a goal.

“I'm the type of player: I take my shots, I'm not afraid of my opponent. Now that I've scored the first goal, a lot of people are looking at me. But I don't really feel any pressure."

The start against Brugge marked his 11th appearance for Bayern Munich this season. His rise through the ranks has been well documented and the German side will hope they have another talent like Musiala on their hands.
