Having won six and drawn one of their last seven top-flight matches Carrick’s side are the most in form side in the Premier League at the moment.
A win against Crystal Palace keeps United inside the top 4 as they chase down Champions League football, a goal not thought possible until Carrick stepped in for Ruben Amorim.
Supporters serenaded their former captain near the end of the clash, showing appreciation for Carrick who is still unbeaten as United boss.
Speaking after the game, Carrick was over the moon after such support he has received after the club’s rise in form.
“It’s nice, obviously this place means a lot to me. To have so much positivity and everyone enjoying coming to the games and watching it, for me to have an influence on that, I’m not going to lie, of course it feels good.
“The players have got to take a lot of credit for that for what they put on the pitch. It’s certainly not all me. That connection with the supporters is huge, to feel that and for them to stay with us, even when there was a bit of a stuttery start, to get through the game and finish like that, it means a lot."
The 44-year-old has also won five league matches on the trot at Old Trafford and will hope to secure the permanent role that may be offered to him once the season concludes which would delight fans who have been impressed so far.
