Valverde followed up his Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City with a superb strike against Elche on Saturday afternoon as he continues to stun for the Spanish giants.
Speaking with Marca, Ancelotti, who spent several years with Valverde at Madrid, joked that he wishes he could use him in his Brazil side ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
On whether Federico Valverde’s match-winning hat-trick against the Citizens had surprised him, Ancelotti replied:
“It didn’t surprise me, I kept my coaching license for a reason… but the three goals were incredible. I sent him a message.”
“I told him, ‘It’s a shame you don’t have a Brazilian passport.'”
Valverde will hope to continue his fine form on Tuesday night as City clash with Madrid once again ahead of what is an impossible task for the Premier League side as they try to overturn a 3-0 scoreline.
The midfielder now has seven goals and eight assists in 18 matches across all competitions as he thrives under Alvaro Arbeloa who has certainly found the right tactics for the Uruguayan.
Madrid kept the pressure on Barcelona in the La Liga title race and now sit 4 points behind their Spanish rivals who picked up 3 points with a 5-2 victory over Sevilla.
