The Gunners were worthy winners on the night, though some at Bayern complained about "long ball tactics" and an emphasis on "set-pieces" from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
For Babbel, the public reaction from Bayern was positive, insisting the setback will prove just a blip.
He told Tribalfootball: "I think the statements from Bayern Munich were very remarkable.
"Whether it was Vincent Kompany, whether it was Max Eberl, whether it was the players. So they were very self-critical and in my eyes they analysed it very, very well. Because often it is like this, when you are in the emotionality, then you say something because you perceived it completely differently.
"But they were all very, very well reflected and that shows me that the team is really on a very, very good path. The errors that you, or rather the dangers that you had already recognised before the game, still played a bit into their cards.
"And if they take the right keys out of it, then I say that it was even a very valuable loss. Because now you can study it. In the group phase, you just have to make sure that you finish in the first eight.
"So for me, a very, very hot advocate for the Bundesliga, if they pull out the right lessons it can only be positive."
Significantly, Babbel added: "Arsenal and Bayern are my tip for the final. For me, they're the two best teams in Europe.
"Only - maybe - PSG can be especially dangerous. But otherwise, no other team should scare them (Arsenal and Bayern)."
