Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has responded to Bayer Munich star Joshua Kimmich who commented on the club's set pieces this week.

Bayern tumbled down to third as a result of suffering their first defeat of the season to the Gunners on Wednesday night.  Kimmich claimed Arsenal were “not the best team” and ripped into their tactics after the game had finished in what were bitter comments.

"No, I don't think so. I think PSG was the toughest one. Especially the way they play.

"Arsenal is completely different. They rely on set pieces. They love to play long balls. They love to fight for second balls.

“It was a completely different game against PSG. It was more of a football game.

"Today was not so much about football. It was more about game management and duels. Arsenal did this really well tonight. Their win was well deserved, but we have to learn from this game."

The Bundesliga champions had won all but one of their 18 games in all competitions before their trip to Arsenal, who cruised their way to a 3-1 victory.

Now, speaking in his latest press conference, Arteta has been asked to respond to Kimmich’s comments, which sparked conversation online.

“No, but I think the way both teams play, I think the game they played against PSG was very similar when everything becomes man-to-man and the way they are with the full-backs.

“The way we do what we did in terms of rotation, they create a game that are very low sequences of passes, so I know what he's saying, so that's fine. It's part of the game. I think the game is provoked in the manner that both player’s games, so it's very understandable.”

Arteta’s side now face Chelsea this weekend and will hope to find more success with set pieces against the Blues, who are six points behind in the league.
