Freund told Sky Deutschland: "He has a fantastic character, he's a fantastic person. It's always a pleasure to talk to him, discuss things with him, and listen to him. He's an intelligent man who thinks a lot about football and life in general.
"That's why it's so special that he's with us. He's truly an exceptional coach for FC Bayern."
Freund hopes that the relationship between Kompany and Bayern will continue for a long time: "I am wholeheartedly convinced that he is truly the perfect coach for FC Bayern. I would be very happy if he stayed with FC Bayern for a very long time.
"He has everything it takes."
