Premier League legend Gareth Barry believes Harry Kane could play well into his 40s in what would be a lengthy career.

Kane, who has scored 213 Premier League goals, was on track to eclipse Alan Shearer's all-time record of 260 goals in the division before he left to join Bayern Munich is pursuit of silverware.

The England captain has since found multiple trophies with the German side and is on track to win another title this season whilst his former club Tottenham could be relegated.

The striker has scored 49 goals in all competitions this season, with his latest strike coming in the 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg last week at the Bernabeu.

Speaking to GOAL via BetMGM, Barry stated that Kane still has a long career ahead of him as he prepares to turn 33 years old.

“Why wouldn't he? We all know what Kane's like as a person, a professional - he keeps to himself, to himself, there's no front-page headlines, looks after himself. I think he can play into his 40s. He can keep that level.

“So, keep Kane fit and we don't have to worry about the depth around him. Obviously, you're going to need an option or two, now and again, just to mix things up. But, Kane, for me, he can play until he's 40. The players, longevity seems to be a bit easier now with the sports science and things like that. I think Kane can keep going.”

“Yeah, 100%. His style is not relying on anything like pace.

“Harry Kane's a goal-scorer. He's all about timing. He can play a pass as well. He doesn't just bring goals, he brings a lot more to his performances. I can see him playing until he's 40 at the top level. It's great for England as well.”

Kane sat on the bench for the entirety of Bayern Munich’s 5-0 victory over St. Pauli on Saturday but should return to face Madrid in the second leg later this week.
