Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany has spoken on his lack of birthday celebrations.

Birthday messages flooded in for the Belgian as he celebrates his birthday today, just days after beating Real Madrid 2-1 away from home thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Luis Diaz

The win against Madrid was Kompany’s 100th game in charge and under him, the side have recorded 76 wins, 13 draws, 11 defeats as his side chases down another league title this season.

When asked about birthday celebrations, Kompany remained professional and said he is focused on picking up another win.

"Short answer is no.

"We can only wish for the ‌three points (against St Pauli). I always celebrated birthdays at the stage of semi-finals and quarter-finals so it's a bonus if you get the wins at these moments.

"I am trying to run away from all the birthday stuff," he said. "We are in priority mode. At this moment there are enough emotions in the coming days. Maybe some red wine tonight but first prepare for the match."

Bayern are still in the running for three titles, with a German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen scheduled for April 22nd. The German champions sit top of the table, 9 points clear of Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking also on the return leg on Wednesday against Real, Kompany said a win would do him just fine.

"A win in Bernabeu and next week we want to win at home. My thoughts on this are very uncomplicated," he added.
