The 24-year-old tore his ACL in Canada’s clash with the U.S. men’s national team at the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals back in March and has since began an intensive rehabilitation process at Bayern's Säbener Straße headquarters.
There is no point moaning
Now, several months later, fans have received an update on the young defender as he speaks on how hard he is working behind the scenes to return to the pitch.
“I’m running and training well,” Davies told fcbayern.com. “I just need to get a bit more muscle mass on my right leg. When the doctors told me how long it could take after the injury, I thought: ‘Wow, that’s going to be a long journey.’ But it’s all looking good now.
“It’s no good hanging my head and moaning or feeling sorry for myself.
“Injuries like this are part of sport. The only thing I can do now is battle back, not as quickly but as steadily as possible, so that hopefully nothing happens again.”
It is mentally tough!
Bayern's No. 19 added that it is not the physical pain but the mental strain which affects him the most as he misses the beautiful game.
“The process is more difficult mentally than physically,” he revealed. “The muscles will come back by themselves, but not knowing how long you’re out for or whether you can do certain things – that’s hard.
“Sometimes the body says: ‘I can’t take any more.’ Then you have to be mentally strong. That’s the only way to do it. If you don’t do it yourself, no one else will do it for you,”
Davies has a history of injury problems, missing 48 games for club and country over the past three years, and he will hope that this is his last as his career starts to ramp up.
