Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Yaya Touré and African icons such as Abedi Pelé and Riyad Mahrez have all won AFCON during their illustrious careers.
Salah has come close on a number of occasions, but the Liverpool winger is yet to win the competition which is one of the few competitions he has never succeeded in.
The Pharaoh's superstar must outdo his former Liverpool colleague Sadio Mane in the Semi Final if he wants to push his side all the way this week.
Before the game, Obi Mikel has stated that Salah must win AFCON as the rest of his achievements are irrelevant.
"This man here will be looking to get his hands on this tournament, because he hasn't won it," Mikel said. "You can talk about the Premier League and the Champions League, but he has to win the AFCON."
While Okocha cautioned: "In Africa you might win whatever trophy with your club, if you don't win anything for your nation, they don't regard you as a legend."
Mane was also responsible for one of Salah's greatest failures as well, as he played a key part in Egypt’s loss in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final, scoring the decisive penalty in the spot kick at the Stade d'Olembe.
Salah also failed in 2017 and 2019, but now has the chance this year to make things right and establish himself as one of Africa’s greatest ever players by winning AFCON and bringing glory to Egypt.
