Riquelme, who is contesting the vote on June 7, described the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner as the perfect profile for Los Blancos , insisting that the Spain international would strengthen the team’s midfield.
Speaking to ESPN, he said he admired Rodri’s qualities but stressed respect for his current club situation, while hinting that transfer discussions would be addressed after the election period.
"I love that player; he's a fantastic player and the profile of player Real Madrid should have and who should be playing for the club," he said.
"But obviously he's at another club, and we have to respect that. Rodri is the type of player who should be playing for Real Madrid. But we'll talk about that from Saturday onwards."
The businessman has also suggested he has already reached verbal agreements with two major international players as part of his proposed sporting project, further fuelling speculation around high-profile targets.
