Rashford even scored a sumptuous free kick against Real Madrid in the El Clásico that helped seal Barca's second successive title, and that is just one of several pieces of brilliance supporters have witnessed this term.

Following a difficult time at Manchester United, the 28-year-old is keen to join Barcelona permanently, but the Catalan club are unable to trigger his £26 million release clause due to financial troubles.

The attacker is doing everything in his power to seal a transfer by agreeing to take a 40% pay cut across a three-year contract. But that agreement is proving difficult for Barca to reach and instead, the club are pushing to give Rashford a five-year deal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, extending his contract at no additional cost will give the Spanish side more time to pay the £26m transfer fee and ensure a deal is completed.

Barca are also aware that Unai Emery is showing interest in the winger, having signed him on loan at Aston Villa last season, but it's well-documented that Rashford only wants Barcelona and taking a pay cut only reinforces his desire to join.
