Barcelona and Spain’s teenager Vicky Lopez has been named the world’s best young female player, taking home the Kopa Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards in Paris.

The 19-year-old was instrumental in the Spaniards’ remarkable season, helping the club secure both the Liga F and Copa de la Reina titles, while also playing a key role in Spain’s run to the Euro 2025 final.

"Thank you to my family. I dedicate this to my mother, who watches over me from heaven and is protecting me so I can become a better person,” Lopez said.

“I hope you're proud of me; I miss you. I also want to thank Real Madrid, where I took my first steps. I also want to thank the national team, and obviously I can't forget Barcelona, La Masia, its president... they've supported me and let me compete for the best team in the world at 16 years old.

“I want to send a little something to the pioneers of women's football. Thanks to them, I'm able to collect this award today."
