The 25-year-old winger, who joined Villa on loan from Manchester United in September, has struggled for regular minutes at Villa Park, starting just two league games this season, with most of his appearances coming in the Europa League.
Speculation has linked Sancho with a third spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he first made his name after leaving Manchester City in 2017.
A £73 million move brought him back to Manchester in 2021, but he failed to recapture his Dortmund form and later returned briefly to BVB in 2024, helping them reach the Champions League final.
Last season, he spent time on loan at Chelsea, who opted not to make the deal permanent. When asked why Sancho missed Sunday’s game, Emery told Sky Sports: “He is sick.”
Villa fell 1-0 to Everton, leaving them seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
