Toni Kroos has admitted he would have liked to see Yann Aurel Bisseck included in Germany’s World Cup squad after the defender’s impressive season with Inter Milan.

Despite making just one senior appearance for Germany, the player had emerged as a strong contender for the tournament following a standout campaign in Italy.

Speaking alongside his brother Felix on their podcast, Kroos praised Bisseck’s performances but ultimately backed the decisions made by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"He caught my eye last year. He's a very good centre-back who, above all, has a certain presence. You don't want to play against him, or at least not go into a tackle with him," the Real Madrid midfielder said on 'Einfach mal Luppen'.

The centre-back made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and helping Inter secure a domestic league and cup double.

Nagelsmann instead opted for experienced defenders including Jonathan Tah, Nico Schlotterbeck and Antonio Rüdiger as Germany prepare to face Curacao, Ivory Coast and Ecuador in Group E.
