Salihamidzic insists the Bosnian home crowd can make the difference.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I don't know how many years it's been since we've had such a special night. For a national team like ours, it's more than just a single match.
"A generation of talent will be on the pitch, but with two experienced players at the helm: Kolasinac and Dzeko, who you know well in Italy. We're an interesting team, with a great coach like Sergej Barbarez: he and I have experienced nights like that.
"In a crucial Euro 2004 qualifying match against Denmark, we could have finished top of the group, but it ended 1-1 and we finished fourth... No one wants to relive that disappointment."
He added, "It may be a small stadium, with a limited capacity, but there will be a unique atmosphere: you won't forget it.
"The fans will be one more player, and then the pitch will do the talking: even if some people think otherwise, there will be quality."
