The Three Lions will face Uruguay on Friday, 27th March before taking on Japan on Tuesday, 31st March as manager Thomas Tuchel prepares his side for their first tournament under the German after the departure of Gareth Southgate.
This will be the last time Tuchel’s side play on home soil before jetting off to Canada, Mexico and the US as the Three Lions aim to win the tournament for the first time since 1966.
Uruguay are ranked 16th and Japan 18th, Tuchel said he is happy to face two sides who are predicted to go far in next year’s competition.
"We are really pleased to have these two fixtures confirmed as our World Cup year takes shape," said Tuchel.
"We wanted to play two teams ranked in the top 20 in the world, but also to test ourselves against opponents from outside of Europe."
England will play Croatia, Ghana and Panama in Group L at the World Cup, a group that many expect Tuchel’s side will finish top of.
England are also expected to play two friendlies in the United States before heading into camp in what will be the final preparation before the tournament begins where the weight of the world is on Tuchel’s shoulders.
