The African nation insists their preparations will continue as planned despite mounting pressure over health concerns linked to an Ebola outbreak in the country.
Officials in Washington reportedly warned that the squad could face entry restrictions unless they comply with strict pre-arrival protocols requiring a controlled “bubble” environment.
Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House World Cup Task Force, stated that the delegation must adhere to the isolation rule or risk being barred from the tournament in North America.
However, Congolese officials maintain that their schedule remains unchanged, with the national team continuing to prepare for upcoming friendlies against Denmark and Chile in Europe.
"We have kept our training programme. No player in the squad has come from DR Congo. The friendly matches are still scheduled. The only modification to the programme has been the cancellation of the Kinshasa leg," a Congolese official told Reuters.
DR Congo will face Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K.
