Last month, Neymar underwent knee surgery to address issues he had been dealing with during the 2025 season that almost stopped him from saving Santos from relegation over the past year.
The 33-year-old has committed to a one-year contract extension at his boyhood side Santos and is hoping to be back on the pitch in the near future in what would be a welcome return for the Brazilian side who valued his leadership last season.
Neymar has the clear goal of competing in what could be the final World Cup of his career in the summer as he tries to build fitness under manager Carlo Ancelotti who many believe is considering the former Barcelona star.
Now, Teixeria has given an update on Neymar, revealing that surgery went well but a return date is unknown.
“I'm not sure if he'll return against Sao Paulo , there's no set date. I've been following his work and it's being done well. There's no date, but I believe it's coming soon.”
He went on to say: “The recovery process is scheduled to begin in February. We are working intensely to get Neymar back, not as quickly as possible, but at the right time, so we can count on him for the entire season.”
Neymar produced 12 goals and six assists in 30 matches for Santos and with the World Cup just months away, it will be interesting to see if he recovers from surgery and dons the Brazil shirt once more.
