Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera is reportedly considering changing his international allegiance from Spain after being promised a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

The 21-year-old joined Arsenal from Valencia for a reported fee of around £13 million, with the potential for the fee to rise to around £17 million.

With arguably the best defensive duo in the Premier League ahead of him in the pecking order, a place in Spain’s World Cup squad is seemingly unlikely.

According to Diario AS, Colombia, the birth country of his parents, are hoping to convince the defender to represent their national team.

It’s understood the South American nation have guaranteed Mosquera a spot in their World Cup squad in an attempt to sway the youngster.
