Scott McTominay has revealed how he mocked his Napoli teammate Rasmus Hojlund over his World Cup qualifying goal.

McTominay's famous overhead kick came as Scotland secured their place at the World Cup with a 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden Park in Glasgow in November.

The goal ended Denmark’s World Cup dreams as McTominay showed no mercy against teammate Hojlund on the night.

Now, speaking to GQ, he opened up on the aftermath as the tournament is set to get underway this month.

"I know Rasmus extremely well. He's such a great kid, and we have so many good jokes and stuff at the training ground. But he can't watch the overhead kick anymore.

When asked if he had sent his team-mate a GIF of the goal, he revealed he and international teammate Billy Gilmour went a step further as they mocked the striker.

"Oh, that's light. We stuck every picture from that game up on his locker, me and Billy.”

Scotland are set to face Haiti on 14th June and Morocco on 19th June in Boston and Brazil on 24th June in Miami as their campaign gets underway in less than two weeks time.

Since securing World Cup qualification, The Bank of Scotland has unveiled a £20 note featuring an image inspired by McTominay’s iconic goal which is regarded one of the best in the nation’s history.
