The talented midfielder appeared in all seven of Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League games as they reached the knockout stage and has captained the side in 11 of his 19 appearances for the U18s.

Speaking on the new deal, a rare opportunity for a player of his age, he says he is over the moon to put pen to paper for his boyhood club.

“It’s an amazing feeling, I’m so proud to sign for my boyhood club,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Nearly 13 years at the club now. It’s a massive achievement for me and my family, and I’m so proud of everything.

“The biggest thing is just to get into the U21s at the minute and then hopefully kick on next season, have a really good season and just enjoy my football.”

Reports state Upton is yet to debut for the U21s but will step up to the squad from next season where he will hope to get the call from first team manager Arne Slot to feature in the first team next season.

He now joins Finn Inglethorpe who signed his first professional deal earlier this month as Liverpool look towards the future which is looking bright for the Premier League champions.
