Ronaldo is still going strong at the age of 40 for both Al-Nassr and Portugal, much to the surprise of many fans who never would have believed the legendary winger would still be at the top of his game with retirement nowhere in sight.
The all-time top scorer in football history, with 946 goals across clubs and country, scored an impressive 35 goals for Al Nassr last season and inspired Portugal to Nations League glory as he continues to inspire the next generation of stars.
Speaking to GOAL, courtesy of Fruity Slots, which recommends UKGC-licensed online casinos, Simpson believes Ronaldo could play for years to come as he defies the odds.
“I don’t think you can write him off. As long as he is scoring goals, as long as he doesn’t get any injuries, then it wouldn't surprise me because it’s him. I know he wants 1,000 goals. And I think he wants to play with his son.
“Playing with your son, that’s probably one of the biggest targets that you can go for once you have won everything. Sharing a pitch with your son must be some feeling. You look at those targets.
"He does set targets and you look at those - 1,000 goals and play with his son - does he do those and think ‘right, I’ve done it all now’? I don’t know where you go after that. He’s just a phenomenal person, player. What he’s done for the game, it’s unbelievable.”
Ronaldo has 1,000 career goals in his sights and has no desire to let up anytime soon. His biggest motivation now is helping Portugal qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which he will likely achieve in November when they face Ireland in what is a must win game.
