“The special one” is a famous character in the foot balling world, often known for his mind games off the pitch during press conferences as he winds up the media and opposition managers.

Speaking ahead of Benfica’s Taca de Portugal clash against Farense the media asked Mourinho if he often uses a "differentiated mental approach" or psychological tactics.

"Excuse me, but I think what made me known were the titles I won and not saying stupid things once in a while.

"Talking to the press is a way to reach the players, but before speaking to you, I already spoke to them or will speak to them – what I said to you was the same as what I said to the players at half-time.

“These are very objective things. It wasn't a different approach at the mental level. Periods of grace end, and moments of great difficulty also end. Everything has an end.”

Mourinho’s Benfica side sit 25th in the Champions League table and 3rd in Liga Portugal after a poor start to the season. The legendary manager is known for winning titles, but it looks like this season he may miss out on silverware once more.
