Gilmour, 24, has missed the past month for Napoli, with reports from Italy suggesting he has a serious groin problem.
He was also forced to sit out of Scotland’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Denmark as his country reached the tournament proper for the first time since 1998.
A brief Napoli statement said: "Billy Gilmour will undergo surgery in London on Monday, accompanied by Gennaro De Luca from the club's medical staff."
