Former Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi admits he'll be following Roma closely this season under Gian Piero Gasperini.

On the eve of the new Serie A season kickoff, Sacchi also admits he has sympathy for Maurizio Sarri after his return to Lazio this summer.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Lazio haven't made any moves, Sarri is back on the bench, and he'll have to perform a miracle to stay competitive.

"I'm intrigued by Gasperini's new Roma. And above all, I'm curious about the coach's impact on a warm atmosphere like the Giallorossi. Will he be able to bring his ideas to Roma, after his wonderful years in Bergamo? It's a big gamble."

Sacchi continued: "Atalanta has begun rebuilding. After Gasperini's reign, they chose (Ivan) Juric. They need to give him time to get into the players' heads.

"Bologna is strong, solid, and determined. They play beautiful football, as they proved by winning the Coppa Italia, and Vincenzo Italiano is a brilliant coach who, in my opinion, gets little attention. Fiorentina, with (Stefano) Pioli, is aiming to join the top group. They can do it, especially if (Moise) Kean continues his development."
