The veteran midfielder is set to leave Lazio at the end of the season and isn't ruling out playing on next term.
He told El Dia: : "Tenerife? There's been interest, and for that I thank the club from the bottom of my heart. It's very important to me, I appreciate it a lot, and we'll see if it can happen. But it's difficult.
"We'll see, I don't want to rule anything out. The first thing I have to do is say goodbye to Lazio, a wonderful club that has treated me incredibly. Once my experience there is over, I'll see if I get any interesting offers or if instead... (referring to retirement).
"Obviously, retirement is getting closer and closer. It will hurt, because this is what I've done all my life. I love football, competition, sport in general. It will be tough, but the end is getting closer and closer, that's the reality.
"The seasons are increasingly longer and more demanding. In recent years, I've been less of a protagonist, but I've lived every season with great intensity, always with the idea of making my contribution."
