Former Udinese and Napoli coach Giovanni Galeone insists Simone Inzaghi's split from Inter Milan should not have surprised anyone.

Galeone, who is close to new AC Milan coach Max Allegri, insists the decision to leave Inter for Al-Hilal had been in place for months.

"Radio Calcio knew about it for four months," the former coach revealed, adding: "Everyone knew that his son had gone to Saudi Arabia to prepare the groundwork. I did too.

On Inzaghi's successor, Cristian Chivu, Galeone also told Il Centro:  "He proved himself to be good at Parma, now we need to see how he'll react to the leap in quality."

Galeone emphasised the experience gained by Antonio Conte and Allegri as a benchmark: "They made good progress, and when they arrived at the big clubs, they showed character. Let's watch Chivu."
