And Stramaccioni backs the move, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: "He could transform the Giallorossi's depth in the final 16 metres.
"He's an ideal profile due to his technical quality and ability to read the game."
Stramaccioni also said: "I hope the Friedkins understand that it's time to make a further effort for their project, even if it's never easy in January."
Roma currently sit second only on goal difference behind current Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
