Former Liverpool striker Divock Origi continues to be a problem for AC Milan on the wage bill, as he fails to agree contract termination.

The striker, 30, has not played for the Italian giants since 2023 and has spent the last year in the reserves as he and the club try to come to a solution which would include him leaving the side.

With just 36 appearances, 2 goals and 1 assist to his name, Origi’s time with the club has been very disappointing. The Belgian has clocked just 1,941 minutes on the pitch during spells with parent club AC Milan and on loan at Nottingham Forest over the past three seasons and has been a shadow of his old self.

According to Tuttosport, Milan and Origi couldn’t agree on a settlement fee to terminate his contract in its final year which has frustrated many fans especially after he spent all of last season working with a personal trainer in Florence while collecting the pay cheque.

The striker is believed to be asking for a severance payment that Milan cannot cough up or justify for a player who has been one of their worst signings in recent years. At 31, Origi could still attract interest if he secures his release but after such form in the Serie A there are unlikely to be many clubs sniffing around.

He won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup during seven seasons with Liverpool and after so much success it looks like his career is slowly becoming to an abrupt end.
