The striker is on a season-long loan at Roma, but before last night's two-goal blast, he has struggled to make an impact so far this term.
Sky Italia says Roma management are weighing up cutting short Ferguson's loan and sending him back to Brighton in January.
However, after his brace in their Europa League win against Celtic, Ferguson is pushing for management to have a change of heart.
"There's no dislike for the players - it's their performances. Ferguson has had plenty of opportunities," Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini stated before the 3-0 win.
"Do we want to wait for him? Of course we want to. He has to do better, not so much from a technical standpoint but also from a human standpoint.”
Ferguson has now scored three goals so far this season.
