The pair, who returned to Anfield in 2024 have been faced with frustration from fans over the decision to back manager Arne Slot who has suffered a disastrous season.

Hughes set to stay

There have been suggestions that Hughes could leave for Saudi League side Al-Hilal but such rumours have been shutdown by journalists Ben Jacobs and Alex Cook.

Cook stated: “EXC: Richard Hughes is NOT leaving #LFC this summer despite interest from Saudi side Al Hilal.

“Is committed to seeing through the rebuild that was always planned to take several windows post-Klopp. Owners FSG believe in him and Michael Edwards.”

Jacobs reported: Exclusive: “Richard Hughes won't leave #LFC this summer and will lead a continued revamp, with 3-4 senior players set to arrive.

“Al-Hilal interest genuine, but FSG want Hughes to stay.”

Club owners Fenway Sports Group are said to have full faith in Slot despite fans calling for the Dutchman to leave the club who will go trophyless this season and sit 5th in the Premier League.

Hughes, 46, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2024 following Jurgen Klopp’s departure and is likely to stay with the side past the summer. There is yet to be news on Edwards however, which may point towards a potential exit.
