Many are already calling for the former Southampton boss to be dumped by Rangers after a poor start to the season.
But following an Old Firm stalemate last weekend, Miller - who also played for Celtic - is convinced things will improve for Martin and Gers after the international break.
Miller told Tribalfootball.com: "Of course, Russell can turn it around.
“The team needs to start delivering, but when you're talking about styles and playing in a certain way, the fans want to be seeing that positive change because it has been a tough watch, and not just in the Old Firm.
"It's an amazing place to be, Glasgow, when things are going well for you, at Rangers, or at Celtic for that matter. Everyone is telling you how good you are, because you're winning games and leagues, maybe still in the Champions League.
"But, let me tell you. It's a tough, tough environment when things aren't going so well. Those stadiums, Ibrox and Celtic Park, if things aren't going well, you've got 50 or 60,000 on you straight away. If you aren't used to that or can't produce your best when you feel that pressure and intensity, because trust me, you do feel it! I've felt it and lived it.
"You find out pretty quickly at the start of the season. You look at those home games where you're expected to win and win well, and you just need to get it done. You feel the pressure, and you need a strong mentality. It's a big chance for a lot of the players who have come in, and it's going to be a new experience for everyone involved.”
Positive result
Looking back at the 0-0 draw against Celtic, Miller can see Martin and Gers building on the result.
He also said, "I think Russell will view it as a positive.
"It was a game, going into it, where Rangers were in a really tough moment. They've still not won a league game after playing four, which is a bad situation to be in.
"If you took the Old Firm into isolation, they'd drawn three games going into that, obviously losing in the manner they did in the Champions League was unacceptable for everyone involved at Rangers Football Club. You can't lose games at this club in that manner.
"It was a positive result. It wasn't the best Old Firm game, but Celtic, going into it after losing their Champions League qualifier, both sets of fans were going into it quite negatively. Even with it being the first Old Firm of the season. It was a strange situation, with both clubs losing midweek. There was a lot of unrest going into it on both sides of the Glasgow divide.
"I think Russell will have been pleased with elements of the performance. I felt Rangers were the team with more energy, and looked more of a threat, without really creating the opportunities or big chances.
"If a team was going to win it, I feel it would have been Rangers. As everyone is aware in Glasgow, though, it's a results-based business. When you start a season the way Rangers have, obviously everyone wanted the win to properly build some momentum and turn the negative tide, and the result was another draw, still being well back from Celtic and other teams.
"It's not been the ideal start, but just looking at that one game, it's not a bad result."
