Former Everton striker Ayegbeni Yakubu has spoken on the injury to Arsenal defender Gabriel and how it should not impact the club's title chances.

Tottenham had two shots on target all game and a staggering total of four touches inside the Arsenal penalty area, despite Arsenal missing Gabriel, who is out with a thigh injury.

Arsenal have already replaced Gabriel

Manager Mikel Arteta has already confirmed he will be out for weeks, at least, in what is a huge blow for the Gunners who have conceded just 6 Premier League goals so far this season in 12 games.

Speaking exclusively to Tribal Football in association with Sports Casting, Yakubu revealed that Gabriel’s injury does not hold much significance when Arsenal have to much quality to replace him.

“Nah, come on. Look at the young player that came in against Spurs. Piero Hincapie. He is another solid one. And Mosquera, who they bought from Valencia. Mosquera is really, really solid. Now they have a solid back four.

“Even the players on the bench, they're ready to play. Two years ago, last year, they didn't have that. But this year they have that. They're really showing they want to take their places. Everyone is fighting for their places.

“You see their hunger because they want to play and when they're not playing, they're not happy. So whenever they give them 10 minutes, 20 minutes, you see the difference.”

Eze helps lead the side

Eze became just the fourth player to score three goals in a north London derby and the first to do so in the Premier League era as he secured a 4-1 win over Spurs. Yakuku believes it is players such as Eze who will help lead the side to crucial victories on their way to the title.

“So they're already. Both from the top, from the midfield, Eberechi Eze has been playing really well. And with the hat trick he scored against Tottenham, he is really good.

“He's a very good player and they have Declan Rice there. He is solid in the midfield. The defence from the top, the strikers, they're being solid and they have a good goalkeeper as well.”

The England international’s man-of-the-match display in the North London derby took his goal-involvement tally to eight for the season. He will be the first name on the team sheet as Arsenal aim for another three points against Chelsea this weekend as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table.
