Yoane Wissa says there's much more to come from him at Newcastle United.

Having recovered from a preseason knee injury, Wissa made his debut with Newcastle this month and is already off the mark.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Wissa says he is still on his way back to full fitness.

"There is more to gain, of course. I am not at my absolute peak yet. It will take a few weeks to build it up, and I know I have one more step to take," he said.

"I hope for many goals, many assists and many victories. That's what we need right now."

The deal was only completed on deadline day after several bids from Newcastle had been rejected by Brentford.

When he looks back on the last day of the transfer window, he describes a day filled with waiting and nervousness.

"I left London at three in the morning and drove all the way to Newcastle. I arrived around seven and hadn't slept at all, because I couldn't sleep.

"My agent called and said we were almost in agreement, so I went to the training facility. I was there all day, taking pictures and videos. It was a very long day."

As the hours passed, the uncertainty increased.

"I thought I was going to sign at three, but at six, seven – nothing. We extended to nine, still nothing. I called my agent and asked what happened. It was just negotiations back and forth.

"I signed with ten seconds left..."
